Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species |
Although the Bengal is not an endangered species, due
to a lack of clarity in the US Fish and Wildlife Service rules, we are
required to have this paperwork when transporting Bengals outside the US.
This is NOT all the information required, but is a starting point and a
quick reference guide to the process. Hopefully it will help you
decide if the process is worth the effort, time and money required. |
OVERVIEW - The process from start to
actual animal shipment is due to take approximately 8-13 weeks.
The cost for a first time shipper is approximately $400 plus the
cost of airfare, crate, health certificate, etc.. If you ship more
than one animal per year, you may save $50. Most countries require
rabies shots and some require a rabies titre test done 120 days after the
shot. So the earliest a kitten could be shipped to Sweden (for
example) would be 8 months of age.
